As a CMMI Level 2 appraised company, Occam utilizes a proven successful management approach for its clients, based on Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) best practices and deliverables, insuring that our engagements are performed in manageable stages that align with the ordering agency’s processes during the entire engineering and operations lifecycle, from design through implementation, maintenance and close out.

We employ CMMI processes across our entire enterprise, both internally with our operations and externally with our technical approach and program management. In addition, operations are informed by the best practices of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), ITIL, the International Standards Organization (ISO), and the Project Management Institute (PMI)’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK).

What is CMMI?

CMMI is a proven approach to performance management with decades of results showing it works. Organizations using CMMI have predictable cost, schedule, and quality—business results that serve as discriminators among their competitors. CMMI is built with practices and goals seen in thousands of real organizations worldwide.

CMMI® (Capability Maturity Model® Integration) models are collections of best practices that help organizations to improve their processes. These models are developed by product teams with members from industry, government, and the Software Engineering Institute (SEI). The model that Occam bases its practices after is called CMMI for Development (CMMI-DEV), which provides a comprehensive integrated set of guidelines for developing products and services.

Occam is currently at CMMI Level 2, and has utilized this approach with the following processes: Configuration Management, Measurement and Analysis, Project Monitoring and Control, Project Planning, Process and Product, Quality Assurance, Requirements Management, and Supplier Agreement Management.
